This past fall I had my first senior session. Alaina is a friend of mine that I met for the first time many years ago. I think Austin was just 7 or 8 years old at the time. As a parent, each season brings different joys, but it is still so bittersweet to see our babies not be babies anymore. Am I right? I have found senior sessions to be a bit challenging. Having a camera in your face is hard enough, but let’s increase the awkwardness when you are all alone in the frame. Ha! With all that said, Austin did so good. I really think I was able to capture his personality, and I hope he thinks so, too. We finished up Austin’s session at his home. I was able to bless Alaina with a few much needed family photos. Below are a few of my favorites from his session. To Austin, I wish you the best on your journey into adulthood.
If you follow my blogs or just see my posts, you probably have concluded that we like adventure. We love to go places and have fun. One of my goals with the kids is to hit as many parks as we can. I have joked with my husband that we should get a map and start pinning all the different parks we have been to. This month’s video is a documentary film of our time at Big Ridge State Park. We hiked a short trail, picnicked, and then, played on the playground. It was a great day. I thought about limiting my 15 photos to just our trip to Big Ridge, but I decided against it. The blog post will contain some from the day, but I had too many other favorite photos from this past month to leave them out. Enjoy! Oh, and I wish you all a wonderful Easter!
Time for another 15 on 15! Over the past month, we celebrated Sawyer turning two, we discovered that riding bikes is going to be our family ‘thing’, and I learned how to freelense. Sawyer is such a hoot. He has a great sense of humor. He is incredibly athletic. He is the cutest little guy I know. In fact, I believe his small size is what keeps me from becoming depressed with how fast he is aging. He may be two, but he is still wearing some 12 month pants. Ha! He is quick tempered and absolutely hates being uncomfortable. Imagine that. This is challenging to say the least, but is well balanced by a very kind heart and awareness of others. His big sister loves him to pieces regardless of his shenanigans. 😉 This month’s photos were chosen with the help of my man. Hope you enjoy! Oh, and don’t forget to check out my latest family film…Evening in the Yard!
I honestly did not know if I would get to blog this post today. Thanks to some last minute babysitting, I was able to finish our family film. We were privileged to have season passes to Dollywood last year. The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The footage was filmed in December during Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas. It really is a spectacular place to visit during that time. Everything is just beautiful. I hope you enjoy our film. As for my 15 on 15 images, I have enjoyed playing around with multiple exposures this month, as well as, continuing to challenge myself to get in the frame.
So glad to finally share this wedding. Daniel and Katelyn said their “I dos” this past September. The wedding was beautiful. Much thought was put into each detail of this special day. The colors were perfect. The venue was breathtaking. And the dancing…well, that was my favorite part. 😉 Being a documentary photographer at heart, I was overjoyed when we were able to capture some of the bride and groom portraits at their future home. How cool is that!? Katelyn and Daniel, I wish you much love as you embark on such a journey. May your days be blessed and full of many joys.
Ah, we have finally arrived to the 15th of January. While I am not doing a 365 photo project this year, I am most certainly still taking regular pictures. How could I not? Each month on the 15th, I plan to post 15 of my favorite photos taken over the previous few weeks. It has already been a challenge to choose just 15. Ha! This month I had the opportunity to not only get in the frame myself, but to also capture two Grandmas in the frame. That makes me so happy. Now, that is not the only thing I am excited to share. I may not be doing a 365 project, but I am doing a project. Several months ago, I had a fire lit inside me. I LOVE how you can capture personalities and stories within a single image, however, there is just something extra special when you add a little movement and sound. My big project this year is going to be a monthly personal film. On Christmas, it was a treat to film throughout the day. I still obviously have much to learn, but nonetheless, I hope you enjoy seeing a little bit of our celebration.
